Short Story 8/15/17

Character Included:

Ava- An eighteen year old girl with light grey eyes and bright red hair.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Where am I?'

Ava looked around, but only saw tall trees in every direction. Fog curled around her legs, mixing with the dark shadows giving her an ominous feeling. She was alone.

"Hello? Can anyone hear me?" She tried calling out, no answer.

She felt uneasy, she couldn't even remember how she got here. Anxiety creeped into her the longer she stood in the shadows. The forest was silent. The only thing she could hear was her own heartbeat pounding in her ears. There was no breeze, the leaves and branches stood still. The forest seemed to stretch on forever.

She inhaled shakily as she began to search for a way out. She slowly walked forward, glancing around quickly. With every step her paranoia grew. The shadows seemed to grow darker, making it hard to see.

"H-Hello?" Her voice seemed to echo in her ears loudly.

"A-Anyone there?" Still no answer.

She couldn't see anything, not even her own hand in front of her face. It was cold here. She shivered and held her arms to her chest, hoping to warm up. She could still feel the fog curling around her, now being waist high. Then she heard it. Footsteps behind her, approaching.

"H-Hello? Is anyone there?" There was no answer but the footsteps never faltered.

Dread started to mix with her ever growing paranoia. Her blood felt like ice flowing in her veins. When the footsteps seemed to get closer, she ran. She sprinted blindly into the darkness. The footsteps quickly followed, she was being chased. Pure adrenaline kicked in, pushing her to keep running from the possible threat. She pushed on but was no longer any ground under her feet. She screamed as she fell into the awaiting darkness. A deep scratchy voice called down to her.

"See you next time."

She woke up in bed with a loud gasp. She quickly sat up, looking around the familiar sight of her bedroom. She breathed heavily, trying to calm her rapidly beating heart. It was just a dream... She let out a sigh, relief flooding her senses. Something on her bedside table caught her eye. Looking closer it was a yellow sticky note. She froze, feeling pure fear as she read the note scribbled on it.

'See you next time.'

Short Story 8/14/17

Characters included:

Alex- A seventeen year old girl with bright blue eyes and chocolate brown hair. Older sister of Jack.

Jack- A fourteen year old boy with forest green eyes and light brown hair. Younger brother of Alex.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Why is he like this?'

Alex asked herself this question all the time.

She could only watch as her stupid little brother dragged his bike up the steepest slope he could find.

"You're going to get hurt." He rolled his eyes at her.

"Will not! Just you watch!"

Alex sighed, knowing it would be a waste of time to stop him. She watched as he fastened his sticker covered helmet to his head. At least he remembered that. This wasn't going to end well... At least they were fairly close to home where their mom was cooking dinner.

"I'm not responsible for this!" She called up to him, but was ignored.

Jack began to 'announce' his great stunt.

"Ladies and Gentlemen! I, the GREAT Jack, will be attempting the greatest stunt the world has ever seen! Many have tried and failed this daring act, it is dangerous... Death defying... The most amazing, daring-"

"Not smart, incredibly stupid stunt. Will you hurry it up with the three page speech? I'm hungry." Alex called up, rolling her eyes at the dramatic sibling.

Jack huffed and started to petal, gaining speed. Just as Alex predicted, he crashed as soon as he went over the peak. He rolled in the dirt and landed on the thorn bush not far from where she stood. He whined in pain, scratched up and bleeding from his nose. Alex gave him an unamused stare.

"You done yet, oh Great Jack?" She asked mockingly.

"Ow..."

When they got home their mother instantly noticed the bloody scratches and nose. She turned to Alex with a stern look.

"Why is he bleeding?" Alex shrugged

"Because he's an idiot." Their mother wasn't amused.

"I didn't know that idiocy caused people to just spontaneously start bleeding from the nose."

"I think it's a new phenomenon."
